To manually download and install the plug-in on MacOS X, download the ALEKS package file and save it on your computer in the "Java VM Extension" folder.

This folder is usually:

/System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/CurrentJDK/Home/lib/ext

Installation instructions:

1. Ensure that your computer and browser meet the minimum requirements.

2. Point your mouse at the link below. Then, click and hold your mouse button for about 2 seconds.
   • aleksPack10.jar (6.4M)

3. A pop-up menu should appear. (If you receive the error message "Smart Update failed: JAR archive has no installer file information," try again and make sure to press your mouse button for at least 2 seconds. Make sure to wait for the pop-up menu to appear before releasing your mouse button.)

4. In the pop-up menu choose "Save this link as..".

5. A new window should appear to ask you where you want to save the file.

6. Click on the button "Desktop" then go inside the folder "Macintosh HD".

7. You should now choose your "Java VM Extension" folder which is usually:

   /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/CurrentJDK/Home/lib/ext

   and click on the button "Save" to start the transfer. (If you cannot save to this folder, click here.)

8. Restart your browser.
