New ALEKS Arithmetic Course Product Available

ALEKS is pleased to announce the release of a new Arithmetic course product with QuickTables for grades 3-6.

View Arithmetic Course Contents By Grade:

3rd Grade Arithmetic (with QuickTables) 4th Grade Arithmetic (with QuickTables)
5th Grade Arithmetic (with QuickTables) 6th Grade Arithmetic (with QuickTables)

The new ALEKS Arithmetic course focuses almost exclusively on arithmetic content, with some coverage of geometry and measurement; it does not address state standards for grades 3-6. Conversely, the Mathematics LV courses cover arithmetic, but also include algebra, probability, statistics, and additional topics in measurement and geometry in order to provide better coverage of state standards.

Svetlana Russell, Homeschooling Parent

Scenario: Uses ALEKS as core curriculum to homeschool her 6- and 9-year-old daughters.

Time Spent in ALEKS:
Between 30 minutes and 1 hour per day, 3 days per week.

ALEKS Course Products:
Math Level 3 (with QuickTables) and Middle School Math Course 3.

Overall Experience
I pulled my daughter out of private school in third grade because she was not advancing in math as she was in her other subjects. Now, at age 9, she is using ALEKS Middle School Math Course 3 and is enjoying math. This is her second year using ALEKS, and I can't recommend it enough for students struggling with math! Now my 6-year-old daughter is using Math Level 3 (with QuickTables). My daughters work in ALEKS 2-3 times a week for at least 30 minutes and don't feel like they are doing schoolwork! I love the worksheets as well; I give them as homework or use them on the days when my daughters don't have access to a computer. I truly LOVE this program!

What challenges did your students face in math prior to using ALEKS?
My older daughter has always struggled with math. We discovered that in first grade when she tested above grade level on every subject except math. I finally took her out of school in third grade when she couldn't add fractions.

What math progress have you seen in your students since using ALEKS?
Both of my girls are very excited to see their progress displayed in their pie charts. They can see how much they have achieved and the time it took them to achieve it. They enjoy learning new things at their own pace and setting their own goals. My daughters have currently set goals to complete their courses by February; it's no small task, but it is realistic and achievable with ALEKS.

Julie McIntosh, Parent
Novi, Michigan

Scenario: Uses ALEKS as a supplement to son's public school math curriculum.

Time Spent in ALEKS:
30 minutes per day, 4-5 days a week.

ALEKS Course Products:
Math Level 3 (with QuickTables), Math Level 4 (with QuickTables), and Math Level 5 (with QuickTables).

Overall Experience
I love using ALEKS as a supplement to my son's public school math curriculum. I was never very comfortable with math, even though I taught second grade myself! My son started elementary school late and I found myself becoming more and more frustrated when trying to help him. ALEKS is a wonderful way to give him extra practice and instruction without my frustration!

What challenges did your student face in math prior to using ALEKS?
In order to master new skills, my son seemed to need much more practice than his classroom math textbooks allowed. The textbooks adopted by our school system have only 4-5 practice problems for each new concept; my son was just not getting enough practice with using new skills before a new one was introduced, causing him to get lost.

What math progress have you seen in your student since using ALEKS?
My son's grades have improved dramatically, especially when we increased his time in ALEKS to 30 minutes, 4-5 days per week. Now he is getting the additional practice that he needs to succeed. He enjoys ALEKS much more than he does working with me or a private tutor, and he loves watching his pie chart fill up!
