Overall Experience:

My experience with ALEKS has been very positive. We now have a 15 year-old who is working independently on his math and enjoying the challenge!

What challenges did the student face in math prior to using ALEKS?

My son could not decide which formulas to apply to which problems.

What were you looking for in an online math tool?

Something that would build his confidence in math, allow him to work independently, and make him pay attention to detail.

What math progress has the student experienced since using ALEKS?

My son seems to be remembering concepts and applying what he knows after using ALEKS.

How does the student feel about his/her progress in ALEKS?

My son has a competitive nature and recognizes when he really is getting something correct because he knows it. The fact that he knows he is not guessing builds his confidence. When he gets something correct he usually exclaims loudly and happily!

Are there any best practices you would like to share with other ALEKS users?

Using a timer is helpful to him. Be consistent.
