We are looking for a Technical Writer to work within our User Experience department. This individual will help to gather and document requirements from internal subject matter experts and various other sources. This individual will also analyze and document current system functions, transform new concepts into clear functional and visual requirements, and help write and maintain product documentation such as user manuals, instructional text, and design documents.
Required Education and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field (such as Computer Science, Math, Engineering, Instructional Design, Human Factors, Cognitive Science or Psychology).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience working for online and/or software companies as a Technical Writer, Requirements Specialist, Software Programmer (with technical writing experience) or other related position.
- At least 2 years of experience with graphics software applications for image cropping and image editing (Adobe Photoshop, Fireworks, etc.). More advanced graphic editing skills desired.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write in clear and concise language and tailor writing to different audiences, from highly technical engineers to beginner application users and non-users.
- In-depth knowledge of web-based applications.
- Familiar with the Software Development Life Cycle.
- Highly proficient in MS Word, Excel, and MS Visio or other flow diagram software.
- Deep familiarity with HTML and CSS capabilities, options and browser limitations.
- Application development experience is preferred, but not required.
