ALEKS is an effective, user-friendly tool that provides excellent examples for the students to follow. In a survey given to my students, the majority think that ALEKS helps them to learn the material successfully. In addition, they all communicate interest in taking their next level math course using ALEKS.

ALEKS is 100 percent of my course curriculum. My students attend lab sessions and supplement ALEKS with a textbook.

Yes. We cover ALEKS topics according to our textbook.

I use the Instructor Module daily throughout the term.
How do you incorporate ALEKS homework assignments into your course?
I assign homework through ALEKS, but no points are awarded.
How do you incorporate ALEKS scheduled Assessments into your course?
I schedule assessments in order to help to students review and remember topics previously learned.
How do you modify your regular instructional approach as a result of ALEKS?
I no longer incorporate lectures into my course.
How do you use information from ALEKS to focus your teaching?
There really is no teaching in the course other than ALEKS. We offer individualized instruction, and monitor student progress in order to let students know if they are falling behind.
How do you use ALEKS in conjunction with any other learning management systems, course management programs, etc.?
We use Blackboard for discussion questions that need to be answered.
What percent of a student's grade does ALEKS make up?
ALEKS makes up 45 percent of the students' grade.
How do you incorporate ALEKS into your grading system?
My ALEKS course offers 1000 possible points which students can attain by successfully completing their quizzes (150 points), ALEKS mid-term (300 points), ALEKS Final (400 points), and discussion questions (150 points).
Is ALEKS assigned to your students as all or part of their homework responsibilities?
ALEKS is my students' total homework responsibility.
Do you require students to make regular amounts of progress in ALEKS?
We encourage our students to complete topics for one chapter per week.
How do you track student progress in ALEKS?
I use the ALEKS quiz results report to monitor student progress in the program.
Do you notice that students who spend more time in ALEKS perform better in the course than those students who spend less time in ALEKS?
Yes. Students who work in ALEKS at least four hours per week are more successful than others.
Would you attribute any improved student performance in the course to ALEKS methodology or to some other factor?
I believe that the placement function of ALEKS is very helpful in determining where the students belong in the course, which helped improve their performance.
