Debra A. Landre, Professor
I have been using ALEKS for several years and could not be more satisfied with the program. Numerous times I have contacted ALEKS staff to suggest changes to my course, and each time the staff has made the requested improvements quickly. The support available to users is unsurpassed.

Number of students who used ALEKS for the course and term:
Number of sections: 2
Number of students per ALEKS section: Approximately 97

Implementation

How often do you use the ALEKS Instructor Module?
I never use the Instructor Module.

How do you incorporate ALEKS homework assignments into your course?
Students are encouraged to print the worksheets and do the extra problems; the answers were sent to them directly.

Grading

What percent of a student's grade does ALEKS make up?
100 percent.

How do you incorporate ALEKS into your grading system?
ALEKS accounts for 100 percent of a student's grade. An A grade is 96-100 percent; a B is 90-95 percent; a C is 80-89 percent; and a D is 70-79 percent. In addition, I award three possible bonuses of 2 percent each. Students receive a two percent bonus if they have completed at least 25 percent in ALEKS after the first 4.5 weeks of the course. Students also get additional two percent bonuses if they complete 50 percent of ALEKS after nine weeks and if they complete 75 percent by 13.5 weeks.

Is ALEKS assigned to your students as all or part of their homework responsibilities?
No.

Do you require students to make regular amounts of progress in ALEKS?
Students are not required to make regular amounts of progress, but there are bonus incentives if they work at a regular pace throughout the semester.
