ALEKS - Assessment and Learning

The ALEKS PPL Approach

Many students have been away from math prior to arriving on campus and need an opportunity to relearn topics they may have forgotten. Using Knowledge Space Theory, ALEKS PPL identifies the student’s current knowledge state (Read the Research Behind ALEKS), identifying what a student knows and is ready to learn next. Based on their performance on the initial placement assessment, the program provides students the opportunity to improve their placement scores through an individualized, adaptive learning path in the ALEKS Prep and Learning Module. After spending time in the Prep and Learning Module, students can then retake the assessment in order to improve course placement.
