Our experience with ALEKS has been incredible; I really wouldn't believe my son's progress was possible if I had not seen it for myself.
What challenges did the student face in math prior to using ALEKS?
My son was testing almost two grade levels behind in math which destroyed his confidence. Prior to ALEKS, he hated anything related to math.
What were you looking for in an online math tool?
We needed a personalized learning program that would focus on the topics my son didn't know and review those that he did know.
How was ALEKS implemented with other curriculum?
We originally intended for ALEKS to be supplement, but quickly dropped all other materials to use ALEKS exclusively.
What math progress has the student experienced since using ALEKS?
My son actually understands the topics he is working on and how to approach the problems.
How does the student feel about his/her progress in ALEKS?
My son is so proud of his progress in ALEKS; he has proven to himself that he can succeed in math. His confidence level has risen, and he likes math more and more.
Are there any best practices you would like to share with other ALEKS users?
It is important to let your children work on ALEKS in their own way; don't force them to view explanations until they are ready.
