Purpose: Individualized Tutoring
Time Spent in ALEKS: 30 minutes per day, 4 days per week
ALEKS Course: Middle School Math Course 2

Overall Experience:

I love the way ALEKS gives periodic assessments. The program tracks my child's progress and even gives me the amount of time she has spent in ALEKS. Based upon this and the rate my child is progressing, ALEKS provides an estimate of how long it will take the child to finish the course. ALEKS has worked well for my youngest daughter, she loves the program. I also like the fact that after my daughter spends a certain amount of time in one topic, such as division, ALEKS will make her work on another topic before she can continue in the first one. This provides variety and won't allow my child to focus only on those concepts she finds easiest to master.

What challenges did the student face in math prior to using ALEKS?

In the past, we have been easily bored with programs, and have had trouble understanding the topics they were trying to teach.

What were you looking for in an online math tool?

A complete program that would work for my daughter.

What math progress has the student experienced since using ALEKS?

She is much more comfortable doing math this year than in previous years.

How does the student feel about his/her progress in ALEKS?

She is happy and ready to do math without combating me over it.
