Overall Experience:

My son is gifted in math, so I was looking for a program that would allow him to advance at his own pace. He went through ALEKS Mathematics - LV 4-6 in just a few months, followed by Middle School Math Course 2 and Pre-Algebra. He has just finished the third grade and is now working on Algebra 1 in ALEKS. He is very excited about math, and spends much of his free time trying to learn even more advanced math. ALEKS allows him to learn concepts quickly and is constantly reassessing him to make sure that he retains the material. I am convinced that his progress would have been much slower, and much more labor intensive for me, if I had tried to tutor him using textbooks. I would recommend ALEKS to all parents.

What were you looking for in an online math tool?

I was looking for something that I could use to teach my son quickly and conveniently. I wanted a tool with an excellent interface that would allow my son to progress through K-12 math courses at his own pace.

How was ALEKS implemented with other curriculum?

My son uses ALEKS at home, independent of school.

What math progress has the student experienced since using ALEKS?

My son's progress has been amazing and his enthusiasm for math has grown tremendously! His scores on above-level standardized tests, such as the Northwest Evaluation Association's Measure of Academic Progress (NWEA MAP), are extremely high. This has opened up opportunities for gifted-level education at his school.

How does the student feel about his/her progress in ALEKS?

He is very excited about doing above-level math! He loves being a math whiz and he talks about math constantly. ALEKS has helped his confidence to know no bounds!
