Scenario: Homeschool Core Curriculum
Purpose: Personalized Learning
Time Spent in ALEKS: 30-45 minutes per day, 5 days per week
ALEKS Course: Pre-Algebra

Overall Experience:

My son is not crazy about math, but now that we have ALEKS, he can work independently and see his progress while I keep up with exactly how much time is spent working.

What challenges did the student face in math prior to using ALEKS?

My son has never been a strong math student. He is also easily frustrated with repetition if he already understands a topic.

What were you looking for in an online math tool?

I was looking for a program that would motivate my son to study math without constant prompting. From a parent's perspective, I needed a program that offered reports and allowed me to track my son's progress and weaknesses.

What math progress has the student experienced since using ALEKS?

My son is making steady progress with ALEKS.

How does the student feel about his/her progress in ALEKS?

My son LOVES ALEKS. He appreciates being in control of his studying, and loves to track his progress through his pie chart. As he continues to work, I am sure his confidence level will continue to grow. ALEKS is very straightforward which is very appealing to my son.
