# K-12 Course Recommendations

Please refer to the recommendations below when selecting an ALEKS course for your students. At any time, you may move students to a new course. If students complete over 85% of their pies after the Initial Assessment, we recommend moving them to a more advanced course; if students complete less than 15%, we recommend moving them to a less challenging course.

**Schools vary dramatically; these are only recommendations and not necessarily the course assignment a specific school should follow.**

High School Preparation for Algebra 1 focuses on critical prerequisite topics that are central for success in Algebra. This is the best course to prepare students to advance as quickly as possible into Algebra 1 or Algebra 1A. * If a student completes 50% or more of her pie on the Initial Assessment, we recommend moving the student immediately to an ALEKS Algebra 1 course where she will encounter a significant number of prerequisite and readiness topics that overlap with this course. Otherwise, a student should complete 50% of her pie in Learning Mode before being moved to an ALEKS Algebra 1 course. |
