I like the way it has personalized instruction for each student.


What challenges did the class or school face in math prior to using ALEKS?
Our major challenge was finding alternative learning opportunities that held kids accountable. We were looking for something more than paper-and-pencil methods.

How do you implement ALEKS?
Students use ALEKS on days that they finish early, or I am out of the building.

Students work on ALEKS independently.

How did you modify your regular teaching approach as a result of ALEKS?
No modification was necessary.

How often are students required or encouraged to work on ALEKS at home?
I require my students to work on ALEKS at home on a weekly basis.

How do you cultivate parental involvement and support for ALEKS?
An initial note was sent home to the parents, but the students work on ALEKS at home if they do not complete their work in class.


Is ALEKS assigned to your students as all or part of their homework responsibilities? If so, what part of the total homework load is it?
I do not assign homework, unless they do not finish their assignments in class.

How do you incorporate ALEKS into your grading system?
The students' work in ALEKS is not graded.

Do you require students to make regular amounts of progress in ALEKS?

Learning Outcomes

Since using ALEKS, please describe the learning outcomes or progress you have seen.
Although I have not been able to document specific outcomes at this point, the students like working in ALEKS very much.
