What challenges did the class or school face in math prior to using ALEKS?
Students who use ALEKS have been identified as potentially at-risk in mathematics.

How many days per week is class time dedicated to ALEKS?
1 day per week.

What is the average length of a class period when ALEKS is used?
15 minutes.

Implementation

How do you implement ALEKS?
ALEKS has become part of a math rotation in the math intervention class.

Do you cover ALEKS concepts in a particular order?
No; however, I am able to dictate to students which strand I want them to work in if there is a particular topic they are covering in the math curriculum that I want them to practice.

How do you structure your class period with ALEKS?
I structure my math intervention periods so that students get 15 minutes of ALEKS time and the remainder of the period is small group instruction.

How did you modify your regular teaching approach as a result of ALEKS?
I have modified my teaching approach in that I allow students to practice current math concepts on ALEKS while I administer individualized small group instruction.

How often are students required or encouraged to work on ALEKS at home?
They are not required, but are highly encouraged to log on regularly.

How do you cultivate parental involvement and support for ALEKS?
A letter is sent home encouraging parents to learn more about ALEKS, and consider requiring their children to log on as part of their routine at home.

Grading

Is ALEKS assigned to your students as all or part of their homework responsibilities? If so, what part of the total homework load is it?
No.

How do you incorporate ALEKS into your grading system?
The class that uses ALEKS has no grade; however, I do consider progress when filling out progress reports.

Do you require students to make regular amounts of progress in ALEKS?
No.

Learning Outcomes
