ALEKS is used to re-teach skills to students who struggled in math in prior years. It also helps them understand the basics.

Students get on ALEKS 2-3 times per week. I help them on the other days to work on the district curriculum.

I slowed the concepts down so that the students had a better understanding of the concepts.
How often are students required or encouraged to work on ALEKS at home?
I encourage students to use ALEKS at home, but most of my students don't have Internet access. However, some of the students go to our library in their free time.
How do you cultivate parental involvement and support for ALEKS?
We sent a letter home to make parents aware of the program, and invite them to come into class anytime.
Is ALEKS assigned to your students as all or part of their homework responsibilities? If so, what part of the total homework load is it?
How do you incorporate ALEKS into your grading system?
ALEKS is included in my grading by: 60 percent for district tests and work, and 40 percent ALEKS.
Do you require students to make regular amounts of progress in ALEKS?
Yes, I ask students to complete four sections in their pie every time we go to the computer lab.
