What challenges did the class or school face in math prior to using ALEKS?
Having students at different levels in one class was a struggle.
How many days per week is class time dedicated to ALEKS?
5 days per week.

How do you implement ALEKS?
We use ALEKS for the at-risk students for a term. At the end of the term, they progress into a traditional Algebra class.
Do you cover ALEKS concepts in a particular order?
My students are all over the place. I use the reports to target what the whole class instruction will have the greatest bang for the buck.
How do you structure your class period with ALEKS?
We are on a block period. The first 20 minutes are for whole class lectures, review, warm-up, etc. The remaining 60 minutes are used for ALEKS.
How did you modify your regular teaching approach as a result of ALEKS?
I use the reports in ALEKS to review certain topics that the class needs remediation in.
How often are students required or encouraged to work on ALEKS at home?
I allow students to work at home or after school in the library.
How do you cultivate parental involvement and support for ALEKS?
When students struggle or fall behind, I contact their parents and encourage them to work with the students at home.
Is ALEKS assigned to your students as all or part of their homework responsibilities? If so, what part of the total homework load is it?
How do you incorporate ALEKS into your grading system?
ALEKS is 50 percent of students' grades. They have to master a certain number of topics by a given date.
Since using ALEKS, please describe the learning outcomes or progress you have seen.
Students have made gains in their basic skills. They like mastering topics and adding them to their pie.
Are there any best practices you would like to share with other teachers implementing ALEKS?
You have to be flexible since students will be at different levels.
