Truly assessing what students are learning.

How many days per week is class time dedicated to ALEKS?
3 days per week.

What is the average length of a class period when ALEKS is used?
85 minutes.


How do you implement ALEKS?
We started with a pilot program, and then decided to use it in lieu of adopting textbooks.

How do you structure your class period with ALEKS?
One of our teachers uses the program exclusively with the core standards. The second teacher uses it as an assessment piece using the book standards.

How often are students required or encouraged to work on ALEKS at home?
Teachers use time on ALEKS as part of the participation grade.

How do you cultivate parental involvement and support for ALEKS?
The teachers started the year by inviting the parents to a demonstration of ALEKS during parent-teacher conferences.


Do you require students to make regular amounts of progress in ALEKS?
Yes, the teachers break the pie into quarters.

Learning Outcomes

Since using ALEKS, please describe the learning outcomes or progress you have seen.
We have had great student response to the program. After six months on the ALEKS program, 75 percent of our students retaking the End-of-Course Assessment were able to pass.
