Overall, the program has the potential to help students in a variety of situations.
Scenario How many days per week is class time dedicated to ALEKS? 2 days per week. What is the average length of a class period when ALEKS is used? 75 minutes. Implementation How do you implement ALEKS? It varies depending on the teacher. Do you cover ALEKS concepts in a particular order? Yes, I structure the exams to be in order of the ALEKS Pie slices (topic areas). How do you structure your class period with ALEKS? We use ALEKS in two ways: I work independently with students on ALEKS as a tutor, and my other math teachers both lecture and use ALEKS with their students. How did you modify your regular teaching approach as a result of ALEKS? We changed from a lecture setting to a lab setting. How often are students required or encouraged to work on ALEKS at home? One hour per day. How do you cultivate parental involvement and support for ALEKS? We communicate often with the parents. Grading Is ALEKS assigned to your students as all or part of their homework responsibilities? If so, what part of the total homework load is it? Yes. How do you incorporate ALEKS into your grading system? Varies. Do you require students to make regular amounts of progress in ALEKS? Yes, their required progress is a ratio of their personal goals and the amount of time they have in the semester.
