We are just beginning to truly use ALEKS after finishing our pilot in December 2012.
What challenges did the class or school face in math prior to using ALEKS?
It was difficult to provide remediation for large groups of students that needed help in different areas. We adopted ALEKS to help the classroom teachers to better meet student learning needs.
How many days per week is class time dedicated to ALEKS?
3 days per week.
What is the average length of a class period when ALEKS is used?
How do you implement ALEKS?
Teachers have just been trained and are in the process of testing students and beginning work in the program.
Do you cover ALEKS concepts in a particular order?
No. Topics are covered based on student needs and areas of weakness based on PA Algebra 1 Keystone Exam results.
How often are students required or encouraged to work on ALEKS at home?
Students do not have to work on ALEKS at home.
How do you cultivate parental involvement and support for ALEKS?
Parents are supportive because the school is providing a remediation to help students become more successful.
Since using ALEKS, please describe the learning outcomes or progress you have seen.
Although we just began fully using ALEKS, we have already seen students making gains in the content being worked on. Students are also enjoying the program.
