Monica Haake, Teacher
Our students were identified to use ALEKS through Response to Intervention (RtI). They have worked in the program on their own, progressing through different class levels. It seems like our at-risk students are catching up to be on-level with their peers. Their overall math grades have improved and so has their confidence.

5 days per week.

30 minutes.

Implementation

How do you implement ALEKS?
ALEKS is used with certain students who are identified through RtI.

No.

How do you structure your class period with ALEKS?
Students who are identified as lower level work in ALEKS while others are reading or doing other work.

How did you modify your regular teaching approach as a result of ALEKS?
I didn't.

How often are students required or encouraged to work on ALEKS at home?
They are not.

I provide parents with informational notes and schedule meetings.

Grading

No.

We give the students a 100 percent test grade for completion of a level.

Do you require students to make regular amounts of progress in ALEKS?
Not yet.

Learning Outcomes

Since using ALEKS, please describe the learning outcomes or progress you have seen.
It seems like our at-risk students are catching up to be on-level with their peers. Their overall math grades have improved and so has their confidence. The students are excited about ALEKS. Sometimes they learn a subject in ALEKS before we address it in class, so they can show that they knew it before the others.
