Sara Folkert, Teacher
ALEKS helps me to stay on top of my own math skills as I teach students. It also provides extra support for some of my struggling students.

What challenges did the class or school face in math prior to using ALEKS?
We have small class sizes but a very diverse population of learners. It's a challenge to meet all of their needs and to help them fill in any gaps they have in their understanding of math.

How many days per week is class time dedicated to ALEKS?
3 days per week.

How do you structure your class period with ALEKS?
My students use it at home.

How often are students required or encouraged to work on ALEKS at home?
Students are encouraged to work at home three times per week.

How do you cultivate parental involvement and support for ALEKS?
Parents are instrumental by advocating for the extra support and challenge for their students.

Is ALEKS assigned to your students as all or part of their homework responsibilities? If so, what part of the total homework load is it?
ALEKS is just supplemental.

Learning Outcomes

Since using ALEKS, please describe the learning outcomes or progress you have seen.
ALEKS is a good support for my students and me. Students see ALEKS as an extra resource that helps them in class.

Best Practices

Are there any best practices you would like to share with other teachers implementing ALEKS?
ALEKS helps me just as much as the students. When I am constantly reviewing and learning, I can model that to them.
