Our experience with ALEKS has been positive. We rely on the program to assist with math instruction in our multi-age classrooms. I have seen steady progress with most students. A couple of students have progressed through more than a full year's course during the school year. I have one sixth grade student who has completed all of the Pre-Algebra course and most of Algebra 1.

Implementation

How do you implement ALEKS?
The program is the main curriculum for most of our students in grades 5-8.

Do you cover ALEKS concepts in a particular order?
No.

How do you structure your class period with ALEKS?
Instruction is self-paced, with quizzes and worksheets assigned to students each week.

How often are students required or encouraged to work on ALEKS at home?
Students use ALEKS at home four times a week for homework.

How do you cultivate parental involvement and support for ALEKS?
We share student progress with parents.


Grading

Is ALEKS assigned to your students as all or part of their homework responsibilities? If so, what part of the total homework load is it?
Most math homework (80 percent) consists of ALEKS.

Do you require students to make regular amounts of progress in ALEKS?
No.
