Donna Grassel, Teacher
I have students in a two-period math block. During one of the periods we go to the lab to use ALEKS. Many students have made great gains in concepts learned. They feel proud and capable.

How many days per week is class time dedicated to ALEKS?
3 days per week.

What is the average length of a class period when ALEKS is used?
45 minutes.

Do you cover ALEKS concepts in a particular order?
Mostly student-driven.

How do you structure your class period with ALEKS?
Students work independently with adult assistance as needed. For the last ten minutes, the students work on QuickTables.

How did you modify your regular teaching approach as a result of ALEKS?
Very little. I used ALEKS as an add-on to my normal teaching approach.

Is ALEKS assigned to your students as all or part of their homework responsibilities? If so, what part of the total homework load is it?

How do you incorporate ALEKS into your grading system?
Pass/no pass.

Do you require students to make regular amounts of progress in ALEKS?
Ten topics per week.
