My experience with ALEKS has been very positive. The students really seem to enjoy using it as well.

What challenges did the class or school face in math prior to using ALEKS?
Our students just haven't been able to retain their math skills in the past.

How many days per week is class time dedicated to ALEKS?
1 day per week.

What is the average length of a class period when ALEKS is used?
45 minutes.


Implementation

How do you implement ALEKS?
I incorporate ALEKS into our weekly routine by scheduling Fridays as ALEKS days.

Do you cover ALEKS concepts in a particular order?
No.

How do you structure your class period with ALEKS?
We use ALEKS once a week for the class period.

How did you modify your regular teaching approach as a result of ALEKS?
As a result of using ALEKS, I have been able to try to teach more complex concepts.

How often are students required or encouraged to work on ALEKS at home?
Currently, I do not require them to work at home at all.

How do you cultivate parental involvement and support for ALEKS?
We have not attempted to involve the parents at this point in time.


Grading

Is ALEKS assigned to your students as all or part of their homework responsibilities? If so, what part of the total homework load is it?
No.

How do you incorporate ALEKS into your grading system?
20 percent of the grade.

Do you require students to make regular amounts of progress in ALEKS?
No.

Since using ALEKS, please describe the learning outcomes or progress you have seen.
ALEKS has bolstered our kids' confidence. They aren't afraid to try new things in math now and are always very excited to use the program.
