What challenges did the class or school face in math prior to using ALEKS?
It was very difficult to find ways to engage our students in math.

3 days per week.

How do you implement ALEKS?
We are using ALEKS for participation points, and also using the assessments and quizzes as part of our grading.
Do you cover ALEKS concepts in a particular order?
How do you structure your class period with ALEKS?
Students work on ALEKS for the entire period. Once or twice a week, they have a quiz or assessment.
How did you modify your regular teaching approach as a result of ALEKS?
I talk to parents to show them where their child is in terms of basic skills and standards.
How often are students required or encouraged to work on ALEKS at home?
Homework is not required.
How do you cultivate parental involvement and support for ALEKS?
At Back-to-School Night, I show parents how the program works and explain ALEKS to them.
Is ALEKS assigned to your students as all or part of their homework responsibilities? If so, what part of the total homework load is it?
How do you incorporate ALEKS into your grading system?
Tests and quizzes are 50 percent, ALEKS effort is 30 percent, homework is 10 percent, and participation 10 percent.
Do you require students to make regular amounts of progress in ALEKS?
Yes, my students are required to make progress each day in ALEKS. I print out the progress charts every day to make sure their percentage goes up.
Since using ALEKS, please describe the learning outcomes or progress you have seen.
Students seem to be more engaged during lectures than before. They also seem to feel more successful.
